Questionable Android App Permissions

2013-02-27 18.41.20On the Google Play Store you can find the App Permission Friendly Apps that will display and rate the permissions granted to an App on an Android phone. What is interesting is the wide range of permissions granted to apps that I cannot see a justification for. Each app is rated based on the number and power of the permissions granted. Scroll to the bottom to see the most privileged apps.

2013-02-27 18.42.08You can filter on a specific permission by using the filter icon (see picture to right) or you can open up the full list of permissions for the app by tapping on the app name (see picture to the left). I cannot see why Junos Pulse needs all the permissions it has including being able to modify personal data.

Have a go at checking your installed apps and consider whether your really need them.
